Roof Drain & Leader Clearing in NYC

Ponding roofs and overflowing leaders cleared before the ceiling tells you about it.

Water ponds on the flat roof after every rain. Leaders overflow down the facade. A top-floor ceiling stain keeps growing. On NYC flat roofs, that's almost always a blocked roof drain or leader line — and it gets expensive fast.

Roof drains swallow leaves, roofing debris, tennis balls and pigeon gifts, then feed into leader lines that clog exactly where you can't reach them. Left blocked, ponding water finds its way into the building — through the membrane, the parapet, or a tenant's ceiling.

We clear the drain bowl, rod or jet the leader line down to the house drain, and flow-test the whole run so you know the water is actually leaving the roof.

For buildings with a history of roof drainage problems, we run scheduled fall and spring clearings — the cheapest roof insurance there is.

Questions we hear about roof drains & leaders

Water is coming through the ceiling during rain — is that you or a roofer?
Often us first: if the roof drain or leader is blocked, ponding water will find any weakness in the roof. Clearing the drainage is the fast, cheap first move; if the leak persists on a draining roof, then it's a membrane problem for a roofer.
How often should roof drains be cleaned?
Twice a year for most flat-roofed buildings — after the leaves drop and after winter. Buildings under trees or with pigeon traffic may need more.
Do you handle interior leader lines?
Yes — interior leaders that run through the building down to the house drain are exactly the lines we rod, jet and camera.
